LEVELCORE® PrimeShield

Acrylic Moisture Barrier / Primer (Interior)

Single-component acrylic copolymer moisture barrier for interiors that helps prevent rising damp, control efflorescence, and resist negative hydrostatic pressure on interior substrates.

Why it’s different: LEVELCORE PrimeShield bonds tenaciously to masonry, concrete block, concrete, and stone and is easy to apply by brush, roller, or airless spray—no mixing, no fuss.

Ideal for: Interior commercial and residential floors and walls before flooring, leveling compounds, tile, or coatings.

Product Description

LEVELCORE PrimeShield is a ready-to-use moisture barrier/primer designed for internal commercial and residential floors and walls. It bonds strongly to common mineral substrates and can be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray.
PrimeShield is designed to support reliable bonding of subsequent systems and finishes when installed to specification. Always verify compatibility and requirements in the TDS.

Key Benefits

Damp Protection

Helps prevent rising damp and control efflorescence

Negative Pressure Resistance

Designed to resist negative hydrostatic pressure from the substrate side.

Excellent Adhesion

Excellent adhesion to masonry, concrete block, concrete, and stone.

Single Component

Single-component (no mixing).

Fast Application

Fast application by brush, roller, or airless spray.

Versatile Underlay Use

Use beneath levelling compounds, tile, and many floor finishes (verify in TDS).

Continuous Film Protection

Forms a smooth, continuous film build for reliable protection

Interior Use Only

Interior use only (must be covered by the subsequent system).

Where To Use

Residential Interiors
Basements & cellars

Interior side of below-grade walls/slabs

Bathrooms, laundries, powder rooms

Under tile or underlayment as a sealer/primer

Kitchens & pantries

Under resilient or tile systems in moisture-prone zones

Living areas on slab

As part of a moisture-control system prior to flooring

Commercial Interiors
Retail & offices

Slab-on-grade prior to carpet tile, LVT, rubber, resilient

Hospitality & multifamily

Corridors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, amenity areas

Healthcare & education

Service rooms, locker rooms, interior plant rooms

Parking-adjacent interiors

Where inward moisture pressure is a risk

Not intended for: exterior/UV-exposed surfaces or as a traffic-bearing topcoat. Protect with tile, underlayment, screed, or finished flooring system as specified.

Simple How-To

1.
Prepare

Substrate must be sound, clean, and free of dust, laitance, curing agents, oil, and loose
material

2.
Mask and Stage

Protect adjacent finishes and plan for uniform film build.

3.
Apply PrimeShield

Brush, roller, or airless spray to the specified film build; apply multiple coats if required with correct dry time between coats.

4.
Protect and Overcoat

Once cured, install approved underlayments, tile adhesives, or floor finishes per manufacturer guidance.

Coverage rates, number of coats, and cure/recoat timing must follow the PrimeShield TDS.

LEVELCORE® PrimeShield™ is a single‑component acrylic moisture barrier / primer for walls and floors. It’s designed to help control moisture movement through interior substrates (helping reduce rising damp and efflorescence) and to support reliable bonding of subsequent systems.

PrimeShield helps protect thin‑bed mortars and self‑levelling compounds from rapid water loss into porous substrates—extending open time, improving adhesion, and helping reduce shrinkage cracking. It is solvent‑free, ready to use, and applies easily by brush or roller to form a uniform film.

Suitable for priming and strengthening a wide range of common building substrates including masonry, concrete, screeds, plaster and board substrates before tiling, plastering, self‑levelling compounds, and compatible floor finishes. Always follow the Technical Data Sheet for approved substrates, coverage, coat requirements, and curing/recoat times.

Under normal conditions of use, PrimeShield is not expected to present unusual hazards. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated skin contact. Avoid breathing spray mist or dust generated during sanding/clean‑up, and ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying.

First Aid:

  • Eyes: Rinse immediately and repeatedly with water. If irritation persists, seek medical advice.
  • Skin: Wash exposed areas promptly with water.
  • Inhalation: Move to fresh air and remain away from exposure until symptoms subside.
  • Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Seek prompt medical attention.

Handling & Storage:

  • Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a cool, dry, well‑ventilated area.
  • Wear suitable protective equipment; use a dust mask/respirator where dusty conditions exist.

Fire / Transport:

  • Not combustible under normal storage and use. Use extinguishing media suitable for the surrounding fire.
  • Not listed as a dangerous good for common transport regulations.

For full details, always refer to the complete PrimeShield Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

PrimeShield™ is a one‑component, multi‑purpose acrylic moisture barrier / primer for walls and floors. It is solvent‑free and ready to use, improving substrate strength and adhesion while helping protect mortars and levelling compounds from rapid water loss.

Recommended for:

  • Moisture barrier / primer for plaster, gypsum fibre boards, MGO boards, plasterboard, concrete, asphalt, render, sand/cement screed, anhydrite screed and brickwork before tiling
  • Walls prior to gypsum-based plaster over suitable masonry/concrete substrates
  • Internal mastic asphalt screeds prior to tile adhesives
  • Priming prior to self‑levelling compounds
  • Strengthening weak, absorbent screeds and plasters prior to tiles and mosaics

For complete requirements, application steps, and technical values, refer to the full PrimeShield Technical Data Sheet (TDS).

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply PrimeShield by spray?

Yes – it can be applied by airless spray as well as brush or roller.

Yes – designed as part of interior systems under SLPs and tile. Confirm compatibility in the TDS.

PrimeShield helps control efflorescence by blocking moisture movement that carries salts to the surface.

No – interior use only and should be covered by the subsequent system.

Follow the TDS for concrete age and moisture conditions and complete all required preparation prior to application.
